Objective

The Accounts Payable Analyst plays a crucial role in the efficiency of the Accounts Payable department within the Finance Services Unit in Mexico. This position is essential for ensuring that individual objectives, plans, and initiatives align with the overall business strategies and goals of the team. The analyst is tasked with the precise and timely processing of expense account statements and invoices, as well as the correct allocation of expenses. This role also involves analyzing accounts payable invoices, generating reports, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and utilize broader banking relationships, systems, and knowledge.

Accounts Payable / Payment Operations:

  • Ensure that all invoices, expenses, and related documents are organized, dated, and distributed promptly according to established protocols.
  • Examine incoming invoices and expenses to confirm they fulfill all processing requirements.
  • Execute necessary processing activities for compliant invoices and expenses within the PeopleSoft system.
  • Generate accurate and timely payments in PeopleSoft for all submitted and compliant invoices and expenses.
  • Process any void payments as needed.

Process Enhancements:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and escalate these to the Supervisor.

Financial Systems:

  • Maintain an understanding of the source financial systems.
  • Recognize how the Bank's risk appetite and culture should influence daily activities and decisions.
  • Strive for effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank's values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy and effectiveness of daily business controls to meet operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk obligations.
  • Encourage a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive workplace.

Qualifications / Experience / Additional Information

  • Experience in a high-volume payment operations or accounts payable environment.
  • Strong collaborative skills.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Educational background in finance or related fields.
  • Detail-oriented approach.
