This position is classified as a Contract/Consultant role. Typical working hours are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, although additional hours may be required based on operational needs. Position Overview
In a dynamic, high-expectation environment focused on results, the Loan Operations Associate will assist the Loan Operations Counsel and General Counsel in managing all U.S. legal and regulatory issues related to the company's origination of short-term, real estate-secured commercial loans.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the legal and regulatory components of the loan origination process.
- Collaborate internally with relevant departments and externally with applicants, title companies, and outside legal counsel.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable legal and regulatory standards.
- Stay informed about current rules and regulations.
- Provide necessary legal counsel and guidance.
- Draft and review loan documents and supporting materials.
- Analyze title reports and commitments.
- Prepare and evaluate agreements with business referral partners.
- Comprehend and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Develop, revise, and update relevant policies and procedures.
- Conduct post-closing reviews of loans.
- Address origination-related issues in conjunction with the post-closing asset resolution process for non-performing loans.
- Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Paralegal with a minimum of 10 years of experience or a Junior Lawyer.
- At least 5 years of experience in the U.S. commercial loan origination sector, preferably with real estate collateral.
- Familiarity with U.S. federal and state commercial lending laws, regulations, and licensing requirements is preferred.
- Knowledge of real property recording systems and chain of title matters across the U.S. is advantageous.
- Exceptional organizational, communication (both written and verbal), and computer skills.
- Outstanding English fluency, both written and verbal.
- Strong legal research capabilities.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented and resourceful with excellent follow-through abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications.
- Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships both internally and externally.
