The KYC Compliance Specialist will be responsible for onboarding clients and minimizing risk through thorough research and adherence to compliance regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and analyze new applications submitted by various organizations aiming to utilize Tipalti's payment processing platform.
  • Examine supporting documentation to confirm validity and ensure compliance with established standards during the application review.
  • Engage and assist through email communication with both internal and external parties to gather all necessary information for the evaluation process.
  • Conduct a comprehensive business assessment of prospective clients utilizing both internal tools and external research methods.
  • Take ownership of the decision-making process regarding the approval or denial of client applications.
  • Perform annual reviews of existing accounts.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-functional operations.
  • Drive improvements and efficiencies within processes.
  • Uphold quality control standards by reviewing high-risk or complex cases.
  • Ensure that KYC controls are operating effectively.
  • Implement and oversee KYC policies and procedures.
  • Manage escalations related to high-risk clients and conduct Enhanced Due Diligence as necessary.
  • Serve as a primary contact for compliance-related issues arising from other departments.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3+ years of experience in risk analysis, fraud prevention, client services, and the fintech sector.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, decision-making skills, customer-centric approach, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with KYC tools and technologies is essential.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
  • Exhibit Tipalti's core value of ownership, demonstrating initiative and accountability.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements within the UK/EU is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in financial due diligence and transaction analysis is required.
  • In-depth understanding of KYC, BSA, and AML regulations to identify and escalate key risks.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience in startup environments or financial services is advantageous.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is necessary.
