The Senior KYC Compliance Analyst is essential in the onboarding and continuous monitoring of clients to minimize risk through thorough research and adherence to compliance policies. This role entails assessing new and existing client applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and mentoring junior analysts. The Senior Analyst will also manage complex cases and lead enhancements in the KYC process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Onboarding & Assessment: Perform comprehensive reviews of new applications, verifying that all documentation is accurate and complies with standards. Utilize internal resources and external research for a complete evaluation of potential clients.
  • Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD): Oversee escalated cases involving high-risk clients, conducting in-depth due diligence and making informed decisions on account approvals.
  • Ongoing Monitoring: Regularly review active accounts to ensure they remain compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including Risk, Fraud, and Compliance, to ensure a unified approach to client onboarding and monitoring.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements in KYC and compliance processes to boost efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Mentorship & Development: Guide junior analysts, supporting their growth and ensuring adherence to compliance best practices.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Stay informed about relevant regulatory requirements in the UK/EU and other jurisdictions, ensuring KYC controls are effective and compliant.
  • KPI & SLA Oversight: Assist in the establishment and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) for the KYC function.
  • Quality Control: Uphold quality assurance by reviewing high-risk and complex files, ensuring decisions are well-documented and accurate.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2-4 years in KYC, AML, risk analysis, or a related compliance role, ideally within the fintech or financial services sector.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with KYC tools and methodologies.
  • Regulatory Insight: Strong grasp of regulatory requirements in the UK/EU, with the ability to identify and escalate key BSA/AML risks.
  • Analytical Abilities: Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills, capable of managing complex and high-risk cases.
  • Communication Skills: Proficient in both oral and written communication in English.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience in mentoring or leading junior staff, focusing on compliance best practices.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think critically and resolve issues efficiently, with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Initiative: Capacity to take ownership of tasks and drive initiatives independently.
  • Collaborative Skills: Proven ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders, working collaboratively across functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience: Background in a startup environment or financial services is advantageous.
  • Professional Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or ICA (International Compliance Association) qualifications are beneficial.
