The Senior KYC Compliance Analyst is essential in the customer onboarding process and ongoing monitoring to reduce risk through thorough research and adherence to compliance policies. This role includes assessing new and existing client applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and mentoring junior analysts. The Senior Analyst will also manage complex cases and lead enhancements in the KYC process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Onboarding & Assessment: Perform comprehensive reviews of new applications, verifying that all documentation is accurate and complies with standards. Utilize internal systems and external research for a complete evaluation of potential clients.
  • Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD): Oversee escalated cases involving high-risk clients, conducting detailed due diligence and making informed decisions regarding account approvals.
  • Ongoing Account Monitoring: Regularly review active accounts to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including Risk, Fraud, and Compliance, to ensure a unified approach to client onboarding and monitoring.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements in KYC and compliance processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Mentorship & Development: Guide junior analysts in their professional growth and ensure adherence to compliance best practices.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Stay informed about relevant regulatory requirements in the UK/EU and ensure all KYC controls are effective.
  • KPI & SLA Oversight: Assist in establishing and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) for the KYC function.
  • Quality Control: Ensure the integrity of quality assurance by reviewing high-risk and complex files, confirming that decisions are accurate and well-documented.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2-4 years in KYC, AML, risk analysis, or a related compliance role, ideally within the fintech or financial services sector.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with KYC tools and methodologies.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong grasp of regulatory requirements in the UK/EU, with the ability to identify and escalate key BSA/AML risks.
  • Analytical Abilities: Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, capable of managing complex and high-risk cases.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience in mentoring or leading junior staff, promoting compliance best practices.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think critically and resolve issues efficiently, with a focus on customer service and attention to detail.
  • Initiative: Capacity to take ownership of tasks and drive initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively, working collaboratively across functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Background: Experience in a startup environment or within the financial services industry is advantageous.
  • Professional Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or ICA (International Compliance Association) qualifications are beneficial.
