The KYC Compliance Specialist will be responsible for onboarding clients and minimizing risk through thorough research and adherence to compliance protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and analyze new applications submitted by various organizations wishing to utilize Tipalti's payment platform.
- Examine documentation to verify compliance with established standards during the application process.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders via email to gather all necessary information for the evaluation process.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of potential clients using both internal tools and external research.
- Make informed decisions regarding the approval of applications, taking full ownership of the account approval process.
- Review existing accounts on an annual basis.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance operational efficiency.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
- Ensure quality control by reviewing high-risk and complex files.
- Monitor the effectiveness of KYC controls.
- Develop and enforce KYC policies.
- Address escalations related to high-risk clients and conduct Enhanced Due Diligence.
- Serve as a primary contact for compliance-related issues from other departments.
Qualifications:
- 1-3+ years of experience in risk analysis, fraud prevention, client services, and fintech.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with KYC tools and compliance technologies.
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
- Exhibit Tipalti's core value of ownership through initiative and accountability.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards in the UK/EU is essential.
- Ability to effectively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in financial due diligence and transaction assessments is required.
- Solid understanding of KYC, BSA, and AML regulations to identify and escalate significant risks.
- Exceptional problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience in startup environments or financial services is advantageous.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
