Job DescriptionThe Payroll Manager - Salary Specialist is responsible for processing payroll from start to finish in compliance with local regulations for multiple sites or entities. This role also serves as the lead sponsor for projects related to payroll as needed.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Complete Payroll process evaluation and recommendations for improvement
- Provide managerial support and guidance for payroll activities
- Manage payroll and timekeeping systems
- Maintain partnerships with various vendors for payroll, timekeeping, garnishments, and governmental agencies
- Solid understanding of employment law, regulatory, and legal compliance to address notifications and provide guidance to the team of payroll specialists
- Completes Payroll reconciliations and designs new reports as needed
- Demonstrate positive team performance
- Ensure that process service levels are met in accordance with set standards
- Ensures that all internal risk and control guidelines are met and executed in every process
- Responsible for direct report training programs
- Subject matter expert with the ability to apply knowledge of the business to solve strategic payroll issues
- Assist in preparation of corporate budgets and annual estimates for salaries and payroll taxes
- Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity
- Responsible for hiring, determining staffing levels, and resource allocation for the Payroll team
- Partner with process peers in Human Resources, Benefits, Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, Labor Relations, Corporate Taxes, and related third-party vendors to resolve employee questions/issues
- Provide key support to the Finance and Accounting group
- Fluency with HR policies pertaining to payroll such as overtime, leave, benefits, employee compensation, health and welfare, and retirement benefit administration
- Coach and develop payroll team
- Conduct meetings with different level contacts and departments as needed
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Financial Management, or other related courses. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential to effectively communicate with stakeholders. Proactive individuals who are amenable to work on a night shift schedule and on a hybrid setup (if needed) are preferred.
This role offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience. Occasional travel may be required for meetings, conferences, or client engagements, as per business needs.
