Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Floral Clerk to join our team at Hy-Vee Inc. As a key member of our floral department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, creating beautiful floral arrangements, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Create beginning levels of design work for floral arrangements and fill necessary merchandising needs.
  • Assist customers with placing orders and complete the necessary paperwork.
  • Unload trucks, place product in storage, and replenish merchandise as needed.
  • Check in product, put it away, and process invoices.
  • Ensure the work area is always clean and neat, including coolers, counters, floor, sink, etc.
  • Run the department registers and receive payment, make change, etc., where applicable.
  • Remove trash in a timely manner.
  • Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
Requirements
  • Less than High School or six months or less of similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems, interpret instructions, and perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to file, post, and mail materials, copy data from one record to another, interview to obtain basic information, and guide people and provide basic direction.
Working Conditions

The duties for this position are normally conducted in a store environment with significant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. There is exposure to dirt, noise, equipment movement hazards, chemicals/solvents, electrical shock, and dampness.

Equipment Used to Perform Job: Standard tools and equipment used in a floral environment, including computer, underwater cutter, wire cutter, pricing gun, dosetron, scissors, knives, pick machine, register system, helium tank, and telephone.

Contacts: Daily contact with the general public and customers, weekly contact with suppliers/vendors.

Confidentiality: Maintains confidentiality on orders placed, including who sent, who received, order, and cost.
