Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team at South Pole. As a key member of our Corporate Functions team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial reports.
Main Responsibilities:- Financial Reporting: Review and validate our monthly cost database, verifying against contracts and delivery reports.
- Tax Compliance: Participate in the preparation of taxes for delivery to the Statutory Auditor, coordinating with the Senior Accountant Specialist.
- Accounting Operations: Participate in weekly meetings with the team to review accounting progress, with ongoing reconciliation of accounting accounts.
- Accounting Entries: Prepare and record accounting entries, analyze and apply withholdings at source.
- Cost Calculation: Calculate and post weekly costs.
- Invoicing: In charge of invoicing to internal and external customers, ensuring compliance with established requirements.
- Accounting Team Coordination: Follow-up of activities and coordination within the accounting team in accordance with assigned functions.
- Accounts Receivable: Follow-up of accounts receivable, coordinating execution with the officer in charge.
- Accounts Payable: Weekly follow-up of accounts payable, if assigned the function, according to the coordination made by the Senior Accountant Specialist.
- Information Delivery: Participate as part of the accounting team in the delivery of information to control entities.
- Tax Due Date Schedule: Annual preparation of the tax due date schedule and information to the control entities.
- Statutory Audit: Coordination with the Senior Accountant Specialist responsible for accounting of the requirements of the statutory audit, follow-up meetings and presentation of information requested by the different areas.
- Monthly Report: Permanent and effective participation in the filling out and delivery of the monthly report, both Gross Profit and monthly report, two days before the due date.
- Education: Completed studies in Public Accounting.
- Experience: Verified experience in the accounting area, management in operational and control processes, in addition to meeting objectives.
- Specialization: Specialization in accounting or tax area preferred.
- Knowledge: Up-to-date accounting and tax knowledge, perspectives on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- ERP Knowledge: Working knowledge of accounting ERPs.
- Language Skills: Proficient written and oral proficiency in Spanish and English preferred.
- Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel).
- Soft Skills: Entrepreneurial attitude, sense of responsibility and willingness to take the initiative.
- Teamwork: Team-oriented with positive attitude, creativity and prudence.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
