The Senior Accounting Specialist role is integral to the financial operations of the organization. Reporting directly to the Accounting Supervisor, this position encompasses a variety of advanced accounting responsibilities on a daily and monthly basis. Key tasks include the preparation of journal entries, facilitating the month-end closing process, performing essential account reconciliations, and conducting bank reconciliations. This role plays a vital part in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP-IFRS) and relevant regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the general ledger by accurately recording transactions and reconciling accounts to maintain integrity.
- Assist in the preparation of comprehensive financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring precision and completeness.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing activities by preparing necessary journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
- Help maintain and update accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with GAAP-IFRS and other regulatory requirements.
- Engage in special projects, such as audits, budgeting, and forecasting, as directed by management.
- Address inquiries from various departments and external stakeholders regarding accounting-related issues.
- Provide support to the accounting team with additional tasks as required.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and other accounting standards.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Netsuite, Oracle, or SAP is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn and embrace new challenges.
