By working closely with project owners and developers as well as their local communities, we manage the complete registration, verification and evaluation of carbon projects to enable the issuance of emission-reduction certificates, in line with official carbon standards.

Job summary:


As a
Senior Specialist, Technical, NBS Implementation, Climate Projects - Latam, will provide high-level support in the design and development of the economic strategy for Latam portfolio projects to contribute to the achievement of the technical and commercial objectives of the regional team.

Reporting directly to the Regional Manager, Technical, NBS Implementation, Climate Projects - LatAm.


You will provide technical review and recommendations on the financial assessment of new Nature Based Solutions (NBS) opportunities evaluated under Due Diligence, and generate a cost-efficiency analysis for the planning and execution of implementation activities.

Likewise, you will contribute to the design of the Benefit Sharing Systems (BSS) for community projects from the proposal of incentive schemes that are framed in the achievement of the required behavioural change according to the context.


Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Provide highlevel support in the design and development of the economic and financial strategy for Latam portfolio projects
  • Provide technical review and recommendations on the financial assessment of new NBS opportunities
  • Generate costefficiency analysis for the planning and execution of implementation activities
  • Contribute to the design of Benefit Sharing Systems (BSS) for community projects
  • Participate in different consultation committees on project risks, providing innovative ideas for the mitigation of potential risks
  • Contribute to other transversal analyses to formulate the additionality, financial health, and permanence of the projects
  • Participate in followup meetings requested to better coordinate the activities developed by the economic team
  • Identify and prioritise tasks according to the needs of the project, regarding the schedule and budget
  • Maintain excellent relations with the members of South Pole, and in case it is requested by the PM, relate to project owners, contractors, the public sector, or other entities that come to the case
  • Others related to the fullfilment of the role deemed necessary.

Requirements:

Essential

  • University degree in Economics, Finance, Financial Engineering, International Business, or related
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in climate and biodiversity finance, environmental markets, valuation of nonmarket goods, economic evaluation of projects, and/or policy design
  • Advanced data analytics capability
  • Ability to analyse critical situations, propose solutions and address those in coordination with the relevant decisionmakers
  • Experience in teamwork, conservation project design and budget management
  • Capacity to solve relatively complex projectrelated problems independently and receive general direction on new assignments or projects
  • Ability to manage targets and priorities and develop your own
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to create highquality written documents, especially in English and Spanish
  • Transdisciplinary and holistic vision to support NBS projects
  • Have excellent communication skills, especially verbal and written skills in English and Spanish.
Desirable

  • Master's Degree in Economics or Finance, Environmental Economics, Sustainable Development, Circular Economy, or similar
  • Experience in econometric modelling
  • Advanced management of Power BI, R, and other programs for database analysis
  • Adaptability and versatility to changing conditions and team composition
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • A third language is considered a plus, Portuguese.
