We are looking to hire a Sr. Database Engineer who will support the Linux infrastructure within Telesign Operations as we build a highly virtualized and distributed transaction processing platform. The technical operations team, working in conjunction with development and release engineering teams, employs an Agile DevOps oriented approach to improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of deployment of TeleSign’s products and infrastructure.
The Operations team environment includes staff in the US, Belgrade, Serbia and Colombia. Team members must be detailed oriented, demonstrate good risk management-based decision making, and bring innovative, reliable solutions to challenges and problems alike. Successful candidates will possess strong DevOps experience along with proven Linux skills. Candidates must self-motivate and demonstrate drive to research and complete assigned tasks whether working independently as a member of a cross-organizational team.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support Role with 24 x 7 responsibilities, work with Global Operations team to deliver 99.99% uptime. Coordinate and collaborate with DBA team members on priorities and support items requiring research.Provide database administration for Windows Microsoft SQL Server.Support activities include DB installation, deployment, maintenance, performance tuning and optimization (SQL query, stored procedures & DB engine), troubleshooting/resolving DB problems, DB backups/restores, and insuring DB monitoring is in place to proactively alert Technology Operations to issues.Support Developers with database queries patterns, table design, and performance recommendations. Key development units include high transaction volume OLTP/API products, Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, Data Science and Knowledge Engineering.In conjunction with other senior technical staff, act as DB expert to deliver highly available, and reliable DB platforms to support the business.Provide consultative support for those less knowledgeable of DBs and their capabilities.Experience with PowerShell, SSIS, SSAS, Reporting Services a plus.Essential Requirements
University Degree in applied sciences, equivalent work experience may be substituted where clear candidate has clear technical expertise with a proven track record.4+ years’ database experience on Linux based systems, with MSSQL, Postgres, MySQL, or CassandraExperience in resolving DB problems, including working with DB providers, DB performance issues, use of native monitoring tools.MCITP is a plus but not required.Performance TuningExperience in Disaster Recovery, High Availability, backup/recovery, replication.Understanding of indexes, index management and statistics.Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with MSSQL, AWS DynamoDB, Redshift, Athena, S3 QueriesExperience working with MySQL and Postgres a plusExperience in being primary DB resource.Experience in a fast moving, agile development-based environment, preferably SaaS or cloud delivering based product offerings.Some experience in scripting to support operations automation for DB related activities.Understanding of Internet security concepts.Familiarity with voice telecom and SMS messaging terminology.Ability to help others learn more about DBs and their effective use.Basic knowledge of BI concepts (cubes, ETL) and MS BI tools.About Telesign:
