Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior WordPress Solutions Engineer to concentrate on the implementation and enhancement of WordPress solutions. This role involves delivering technical solutions that align with the strategic objectives of the roadmap, with a strong emphasis on Content Delivery Network (CDN) deployment, performance optimization, customer experience, and tool development. In this position, you will report directly to the VP of Software Development and work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, Product Owner, and other team members. Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Implementation and Collaboration:
    • Work alongside the Project Manager to comprehend and execute the technical components of the WordPress roadmap.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure technical solutions are in sync with business strategies, particularly regarding CDN solutions, auto-scaling, packaging, pricing models, and enhancements to customer experience.
  • Enhancement of WordPress Infrastructure:
    • Design and refine WordPress hosting solutions, with a focus on global CDN deployment, edge computing, and performance improvements.
    • Tackle challenges related to stability (e.g., utilizing Ceph), database performance (e.g., optimizing MySQL), and site speed.
  • Tool Development and Optimization:
    • Develop and enhance tools for site acceleration, error reporting, diagnostics, backups, and security measures.
    • Create solutions to improve the reliability of DreamHost SSO and the capabilities of the staging environment for WordPress.
  • Technical Expertise in the WordPress Ecosystem:
    • Provide in-depth knowledge of WordPress-related technologies, including WooCommerce, plugin/theme development, and site builders.
    • Stay informed about the latest trends and technologies in WordPress, applying this knowledge to improve the experience for both customers and developers.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving:
    • Engage with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and enhance the WordPress hosting environment.
    • Contribute to strategies aimed at attracting agencies and developers, focusing on WordPress site management and maintenance.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering and developing scalable software solutions for large-scale international projects.
  • Extensive expertise in WordPress development and architecture.
  • Experience with CDN technologies and strategies, particularly for global scalability.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies, auto-scaling solutions, and web server technologies (e.g., NGINX).
  • Solid background in database management and optimization, especially with MySQL.
  • Familiarity with Ceph for data storage and stability solutions.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, capable of working effectively within a cross-functional team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in developing tools aimed at optimizing WordPress performance.
  • Knowledge of WordPress security practices and diagnostic tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
