In this position, you will report directly to the VP of Software Development and work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, Product Owner, and other team members. Key Responsibilities
- Technical Implementation and Collaboration:
- Work alongside the Project Manager to grasp and execute the technical components of the WordPress roadmap.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure technical solutions are in sync with our business objectives, particularly regarding CDN strategies, auto-scaling, packaging, pricing models, and enhancements to customer experience.
- Enhancement of WordPress Infrastructure:
- Design and refine WordPress hosting solutions, concentrating on global CDN deployment, edge computing, and performance improvements.
- Tackle challenges related to stability (e.g., utilizing Ceph), database performance (e.g., optimizing MySQL), and site speed.
- Tool Development and Optimization:
- Create and enhance tools for site acceleration, error reporting, diagnostics, backups, and security measures.
- Develop solutions to improve the reliability of DreamHost SSO and staging environment capabilities for WordPress.
- Technical Expertise in the WordPress Ecosystem:
- Provide in-depth knowledge of WordPress-related technologies, including WooCommerce, plugin/theme development, and site builders.
- Stay informed about the latest trends and technologies in WordPress, applying this knowledge to enhance the experience for both customers and developers.
- Collaborative Problem-Solving:
- Engage with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and enhance the WordPress hosting environment.
- Contribute to strategies aimed at attracting agencies and developers, focusing on WordPress site management and maintenance.
- Possess over 10 years of experience in engineering and developing scalable software solutions for large-scale international projects.
- Demonstrate profound expertise in WordPress development and architecture.
- Have experience with CDN technologies and strategies for global scalability.
- Exhibit a deep understanding of cloud technologies, auto-scaling solutions, and web server technologies (e.g., NGINX).
- Maintain a strong background in database management and optimization, particularly with MySQL.
- Be familiar with Ceph for data storage and stability solutions.
- Showcase excellent collaboration and communication skills, effectively working within a cross-functional team.
- Display strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to technical challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in developing tools for optimizing WordPress performance.
- Knowledge of WordPress security practices and diagnostic tools.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
