We are currently seeking an experienced Payroll Lead to join our team in Bogotá.
Responsibilities:- Collect, review, and analyze payroll information to ensure accurate and compliant federal, state, and local withholding and unemployment tax returns.
- Ensure payroll tax deposits and tax returns are completed and compliant with federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Research and file special assessments for specific states with interest payments quarterly/annually.
- Stay up-to-date on federal and multi-state tax regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Maintain all W-4 changes for both Federal and State tax changes.
- Perform and maintain Check Reconciliation by stopping and canceling checks, processing direct deposit returns, and correcting direct deposit information while following Bank, SOX, and federal/state guidelines when applicable.
- Research and collect data for tax authorities requested during tax controversies, including inquiries, audits, and appeals.
- Determine and produce reports needed to prevent and detect issues that could affect taxation and payroll.
- Reconcile payroll tax reporting after each pay run to ensure accurate filings by tax service provider.
- Monitor quarterly tax filings.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- 4+ years of hands-on accounting/payroll experience.
- Proven experience as a Payroll Lead and in-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax codes, and compliance requirements.
- Previous experience with QuickBooks and Sage 300 will be an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, MS Outlook.
- Intermediate-Advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with the aptitude to learn new software quickly.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines with competing and shifting priorities.
