Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Director to join our Corporate Human Resources Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering the activities of US and international payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, and meeting all country reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding, and employer contributions.
Key Responsibilities- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Perform a wide variety of activities in preparation, production, and processing of international payrolls, including computing wage, overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for paycheck advances, and processing terminations.
- Oversee the processing of US payrolls through the national senior payroll specialist.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, filing tax reports of payroll transactions.
- Track international and national labor distribution records, vacation and sick leave accrual, overtime, and withholding status.
- Audit timekeeping records for compliance with established standards, maintaining time and attendance records, entering new hires into the payroll system, posting changes in pay and tax status, and miscellaneous changes.
- Balance and control earnings and deduction totals, calculating and preparing general ledger entries, inspecting automated system output, such as registers and standard reports.
- Determine and correct out-of-balance conditions, preparing and filing tax reports, gathering payroll data for inclusion in financial statements, and researching and preparing special reports for management.
- Calculate and process various types of pay, such as military and jury duty pay, and processing garnishments and levies.
- Document and update procedures.
- Prepare special reports for management.
- Ensure and meet all government federal, state, local (both national and international) wage and hour laws.
- Manage inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of all payrolls.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of all payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Maintain employee payroll records.
- Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Support global expansion and provide insight into third-party vendors to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance in multiple countries.
- Manage the Global Payroll team.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of experience running payroll.
- Proficient in multi-state wage and hour regulations.
- Experience managing midsize payrolls.
- International payroll experience.
- Experience in the professional service industry.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with payroll software.
- Strong Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, etc.).
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now and Celergo.
