Objective

Your role is pivotal in driving the success of the GOCT business lines and IT&S; ensuring that specific individual objectives, plans, and initiatives are executed effectively in alignment with the team's strategic goals. You will ensure that all activities are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and leverage broader organizational connections, systems, and knowledge.
  • Adopt a business values-oriented approach to guarantee that the Technology team delivers the appropriate solutions for stakeholders, ensuring user stories are well-defined and the team comprehends the scope and expectations of the work.
  • Support the Scrum Master in managing agile delivery and adoption (JIRA, Confluence, Kanban, ServiceNow). Ensure that backlogs are visible, transparent, and prioritized to achieve meaningful outcomes, and manage requirements for demonstration sessions with stakeholder teams.
  • Assist stakeholders and the support team in establishing necessary service procedures, policies, and standards in line with internal policies and documentation guidelines.
  • Collaborate with software development and support teams to achieve their objectives by applying innovative and problem-solving approaches to enhance design effectiveness, procedures, and cost-efficient solutions while adhering to business and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify root causes of frequently occurring issues and support actionable plans to enhance the performance of the development team through significant changes to our products and services.
  • Oversee the business and software development metrics framework for software products, analyzing large datasets to compile reports and presentations for leadership teams.
  • Utilize various software tools to assist the bank and designated teams in creating appropriate workflows and templates.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and culture should be integrated into daily activities and decision-making processes.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations within your respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy and effectiveness of daily business controls to meet obligations regarding operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Foster a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive workplace.

Scope of Role

  • Supported business units: RBBO, Adjudications, GBS, OCS, Global Compliance, Global Complaints, and IB Operations.
  • 1-2 Direct Reports
  • Global (Canada & IB).

Qualifications / Experience / Additional Information

  • Essential Qualifications:
    • University or College degree in Business, Engineering, or Computer Science.
    • Understanding of the software development lifecycle.
    • General knowledge of project management principles.
    • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
    • An agile mindset with the adaptability to thrive in evolving environments.
    • Excellent written, verbal, virtual, and live communication skills (Spanish is considered an asset) B2.
    • 2+ years of experience as a Business Analyst.
    • 1+ year in a similar role.
    • Experience with Atlassian Confluence and Jira methodologies is highly desirable, along with knowledge of IT Business Management.

Work Environment

  • Work in a standard office-based setting; non-standard hours may occur frequently.
