About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Culinary Operations Manager to join our team at Marriott International. As a Culinary Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring that we provide exceptional culinary experiences to our guests. You will lead a team of chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff to deliver high-quality food and beverage services.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading Kitchen Operations: Lead the kitchen management team and provide direction for all day-to-day operations, understanding employee positions well enough to perform duties in their absence or determine the appropriate replacement to fill gaps.
- Menu Development and Execution: Provide direction for menu development, monitoring the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met, and determines how food should be presented and creates decorative food displays.
- Employee Development and Training: Identifies the developmental needs of others, coaches, mentors, or otherwise helps others to improve their knowledge or skills, and ensures employees are treated fairly and equitably.
- Financial Management: Manages department controllable expenses, including food cost, supplies, uniforms, and equipment, and participates in the budgeting process for areas of responsibility.
- Customer Service: Provides and supports service behaviors that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention, and responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or GED, and 6 years' experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area, or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, and 4 years' experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead a team of chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff.
- Strong financial management skills, with experience in managing department controllable expenses, including food cost, supplies, uniforms, and equipment.
- The ability to develop and implement menus, monitor the quality of raw and cooked food products, and determine how food should be presented and creates decorative food displays.
- Experience in managing employee development and training, including identifying the developmental needs of others, coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills, and ensuring employees are treated fairly and equitably.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide and support service behaviors that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention.
What We Offer
