OpenShift Support Engineer

Position Overview: The Red Hat Global Support Services team is seeking a Technical Support Engineer with expertise in Linux system administration to provide remote support. This role involves working with OpenShift Virtualization, Kubernetes, and other OpenShift technologies, ensuring an exceptional customer support experience for enterprise subscription clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maximize customer value from our products and subscriptions.
- Respond to customer inquiries within the established service-level agreement.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues while understanding customer business needs.
- Deliver outstanding customer service and provide regular updates to ensure satisfaction.
- Collaborate with engineers and developers to create innovative solutions, including product fixes.
- Contribute to the global Red Hat knowledge management system by sharing troubleshooting insights and solutions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in support, sustaining, or development engineering within an enterprise environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to customers of varying expertise.
- Exceptional customer service skills; prior help desk or customer-focused experience is advantageous.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform well under pressure.
- Advanced troubleshooting and debugging skills, with a strong inclination for problem-solving.
- Proficient understanding of Linux and UNIX; basic Linux system administration experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with installation, networking, firewall, security, clustering, web servers, and databases on Linux is highly valued.
- Experience with architectures beyond x86_64 is a plus.
- Expertise in containerization or Kubernetes, including knowledge of oc and kubectl commands.
- Familiarity with Red Hat Virtualization (RHV), Ovirt, VMware, VSphere, KVM, and other virtualization technologies.
- Understanding of OpenShift technologies.
- Knowledge of storage systems such as ODF (Open Data Foundation) and Ceph is beneficial, along with familiarity with Fiber Channel, ISCSI, and NFS.
- Understanding of libvirt and qemu functionalities.
- Familiarity with OpenShift Container Native Virtualization is an advantage.
- Some experience in software scripting or programming would be beneficial.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the enterprise IT sector.
- A Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification is required but can be obtained after starting.
- A Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification is a strong plus.
