Position Overview

The Protection Analyst for the ProLAC Initiative will play a crucial role within the Danish Refugee Council's Latin America regional office. This position is focused on enhancing the protective environment for individuals of concern across the region by standardizing Protection monitoring efforts in multiple countries, including Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Honduras, Panama, Guatemala, and El Salvador. The goal is to gather harmonized, evidence-based Protection data to create insightful Protection Analyses that will guide both country-specific and regional responses.

Under the supervision of the DRC Latin America Protection Manager, the Analyst will spearhead the unification of Protection Monitoring tools utilized by various humanitarian organizations participating in the ProLAC Initiative. This role includes delivering technical training to field teams on these standardized tools and facilitating comprehensive Protection analyses to generate high-quality, evidence-driven reports.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the ProLAC Initiative team to align Protection Monitoring tools across at least three humanitarian organizations operating in nine Latin American countries.
  • Conduct training sessions and capacity-building workshops on Protection Information Management (PIM) and the use of harmonized Protection Monitoring tools for field staff.
  • Lead the Protection analysis process in partnership with the ProLAC Initiative analysis team to produce relevant and evidence-based regional and country-specific Protection Analyses.
  • Ensure thorough documentation and reporting of training outcomes, including systematic collection of Means of Verification (MoVs) and adherence to donor requirements.
  • Provide on-the-ground support to field Protection Monitoring teams as needed.
  • Engage with the ProLAC Initiative Information Management team as required.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports to the DRC Latin America Protection Manager and collaborates with the Protection Manager, DRC Regional Protection Coordinator, and DRC country Protection Coordinators.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in humanitarian protection projects at the national or international level.
  • Field experience in protection programming, particularly in monitoring, for at least two years.
  • Prior experience with Protection Information Management (PIM) in humanitarian contexts is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in both Spanish and English is essential.
