The Protection Analyst for the ProLAC Initiative will be integral to the Danish Refugee Council's efforts in enhancing the protective framework across Latin America. This role focuses on the standardization of Protection monitoring efforts across multiple countries, including Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Honduras, Panama, Guatemala, and El Salvador, ensuring the collection of harmonized, evidence-based Protection data.
Under the guidance of the DRC Latin America Protection Manager, the Analyst will spearhead the unification of Protection Monitoring tools utilized by various humanitarian organizations involved in the ProLAC Initiative. This includes delivering technical training to field teams on these standardized tools and facilitating comprehensive Protection analyses to generate high-quality, evidence-based reports for both regional and national contexts.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the ProLAC Initiative team to align Protection Monitoring tools across at least three humanitarian organizations operating in nine Latin American countries.
- Conduct training sessions and capacity-building initiatives on Protection Information Management (PIM) and the use of standardized Protection Monitoring tools for field staff.
- Lead the Protection analysis process alongside the ProLAC Initiative analysis team to produce relevant, evidence-based regional and national Protection reports.
- Ensure thorough documentation and reporting of training outcomes, including systematic evaluation methods to meet donor requirements.
- Provide on-the-ground support to field Protection Monitoring teams as necessary.
- Coordinate with the ProLAC Initiative Information Management team as required.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the DRC Latin America Protection Manager and involves collaboration with the Protection Manager, DRC Regional Protection Coordinator, and DRC country Protection Coordinators.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A minimum of three years of experience in humanitarian protection projects at national or international levels.
- Experience in complex crisis environments, particularly in the humanitarian protection sector.
- At least two years of field experience in protection programming, with a focus on Protection Monitoring.
- Prior involvement with Protection Information Management (PIM) in humanitarian contexts.
- Proven ability to deliver training using adult learning methodologies.
- Experience in diverse settings, particularly within Latin America.
- Strong background in evidence-based advocacy.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is essential.
Education:
Advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in Law, Political Science, Human Rights, or related fields. A combination of relevant academic qualifications and extensive experience may be considered.
Contract Details:
This is a fixed-term contract, with a duration of 10 months, renewable based on performance and funding availability.
