The Opportunity As Director of Information and Strategic Communications, you will be responsible for strategically leading the communications team and will be responsible for planning, developing, and supervising all the communication activities of USAID Colombia's Healthy Communities Program. You will play a critical role in reputation management, increasing visibility, and promoting engagement from all stakeholders. Core Responsibilities
- Lead, implement and/or adjust the Healthy Communities communications strategy, ensuring that it is aligned with the objectives and values of the organization and USAID.
- Supervise and lead Abt Colombia's team of communications professionals, providing direction, feedback, and professional development.
- Identify and develop specific communication approaches for each of the key target audiences.
- Lead in collaboration with the technical areas; Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL); and Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation (CLA) to ensure consistency in messages and integration of communication in all areas of the program.
- Identify and implement strategic communication opportunities with internal teams that give visibility to all the actions conducted in the program.
- Identify, plan, and lead communication campaigns in the short, medium, and long term to disseminate activities, events, relevant achievements, and milestones.
- Act as communications liaison between the LHSS Project and USAID Colombia, ensuring fluid and assertive communication.
- Create communication channels with allies and collaborators to achieve the promotion objectives of the program.
- Develop key messages and ensure that all communication channels convey a consistent voice and image.
- Generate relevant, high-quality content that highlights the achievements and activities of the program.
- Lead and coordinate the production, approval, and distribution of press releases, briefing notes, and other communication materials for the program.
- Manage relationships with media, influencers, and other external stakeholders.
- Oversee crisis management and provide effective responses in reputational risk situations.
- Manage the communication budget.
- Manage and supervise contracts with suppliers, grantees, and all those that are required for the management of communications of the program.
- Monitor and analyze industry and market trends to adjust communications strategy as needed.
- Measure and evaluate the impact of communication strategies and report to senior management.
- Know and be clear about the occupational health and safety policy and comply with the company's health and safety standards.
- Seek comprehensive health care and provide clear, complete, and truthful information about your health status.
- Participate in the prevention of occupational risks through the activities conducted in the company.
- Report the risk conditions detected to your supervisor and the Human Resources team.
- Immediately report any work accident or incident
- Other activities required for the fulfillment of the objectives of the project.
- Ensure the development of high-quality editorial products, such as regional reports, quarterly and annual reports, monthly newsletters, among others.
**What We Value**
- Bachelor's Degree + Twelve years of relevant experience, or Master's Degree + Ten years of relevant experience, or PhD+ Eight years of relevant experience
- University degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field, and postgraduate in related areas.
- Solid experience of at least 10 years in leadership positions in corporate communications, public relations, or related areas.
- Demonstrable ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex and high-impact projects.
- Ensure the development of high-quality editorial products, such as regional reports, quarterly and annual reports, monthly newsletters, among others.
