Role Summary:
This senior-level role reports directly to the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting and is primarily responsible for ensuring accurate revenue recognition and the associated costs linked to our contracts. The Senior Revenue Accountant will be pivotal in managing revenue recognition and reporting within our Finance department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guaranteeing precision and promptness in accounting for revenue, deferred revenue, sales commissions, channel partner commissions, COGS, accounts receivable, bad debts, accrued expenses, and other accounting areas overseen by the revenue accounting team.
- Assisting in the maintenance of processes and procedures for accurate and timely revenue recognition and related expense accounting.
- Aiding in enhancing the utilization of financial applications using Microsoft Dynamics 365 to comply with ASC 606 and other GAAP reporting requirements, including quarterly financial statement disclosures.
- Ensuring understanding and compliance with revenue recognition policies for all product offerings and ensuring these policies are accurately reflected in product setups within the financial systems.
- Leading the monthly close process to ensure an accurate and timely closure of revenue and expense ledgers.
- Preparing and reviewing revenue, expense, and balance sheet journal entries along with account reconciliations in accordance with strict close deadlines.
- Assisting in the review of sales contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition and compliance.
- Supporting third-party auditors to facilitate timely year-end audit and review preparations.
- Collaborating closely with other finance and operations team members to assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue forecasts and planning.
- Maintaining internal controls affecting all accounting areas managed by the revenue accounting team.
- Supporting the revenue accounting team in collaboration with IT, operations, and other accounting members to drive improvements in accounting systems and reporting.
Candidate Profile:
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic, excellent communication, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and other authoritative guidance.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to engage with employees at various levels.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 2-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficient in computer skills, particularly in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluency in written and spoken English at CEF B2 level or above.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in public accounting.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
