This is an exciting opportunity as Director of Information and Strategic Communications for USAID Colombia's Healthy Communities Program. You will lead the communications team strategically, planning, developing, and supervising all communication activities. This role plays a critical part in reputation management, increasing visibility, and promoting engagement with stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the Healthy Communities communications strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization's objectives and values, as well as USAID's goals.
  • Supervise and lead Abt Colombia's team of communications professionals, providing direction, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Identify and develop tailored communication approaches for each key target audience.
  • Collaborate closely with technical areas, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL), and Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation (CLA) to ensure consistent messages and integrated communication across all program areas.
  • Foster strategic communication opportunities with internal teams to increase visibility of the program's actions.
  • Plan and execute short-, medium-, and long-term communication campaigns to disseminate activities, events, achievements, and milestones.
  • Serve as liaison between the LHSS Project and USAID Colombia, maintaining fluid and assertive communication.
  • Establish connections with allies and collaborators to achieve promotion objectives.
  • Create and disseminate key messages, ensuring all communication channels convey a unified voice and image.
  • Produce relevant, high-quality content highlighting the program's achievements and activities.
  • Lead the production, approval, and distribution of press releases, briefing notes, and other communication materials.
  • Nurture relationships with media, influencers, and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee crisis management and respond effectively in reputational risk situations.
  • Manage the communication budget.
  • Oversee contracts with suppliers, grantees, and others required for communications management.
  • Analyze industry and market trends to adjust communications strategy as needed.
  • Evaluate the impact of communication strategies and report to senior management.

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience, reflecting the importance of this role in driving global development initiatives forward.
