About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Head to lead our pharmaceuticals division in South America. As a key member of our global leadership team, you will be responsible for establishing and growing our operations in the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute Strategic Plan: Create a comprehensive business strategy and operational plan to successfully launch and scale our presence in the South American market.
  • Establish Infrastructure: Oversee the establishment of all necessary infrastructure, including legal entities, manufacturing/distribution facilities, and a commercial team.
  • Build and Lead High-Performing Team: Recruit, build, and lead a high-performing team of functional heads to drive execution.
  • Market Analysis and Partnerships: Analyze market dynamics, competitive landscape, and regulatory environments across key South American countries to identify growth opportunities. Forge strategic partnerships with local distributors, healthcare providers, and other industry stakeholders to accelerate market penetration.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Product Registration: Secure necessary product registrations, licenses, and approvals to enable the sale and distribution of our pharmaceutical portfolio.
  • Financial Management and Performance Monitoring: Monitor financial performance, operational KPIs, and market trends to make data-driven decisions and course corrections.
  • Global Alignment and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with global counterparts to ensure alignment on product portfolios, marketing strategies, and best practices. Represent the company and oversee all stakeholder management activities in the South American region.
  • Culture and Customer Experience: Establish a strong, customer-centric sales and medical culture to deliver an exceptional experience.
  • Strategic Direction and Decision-Making: Actively contribute to the company's overall strategic direction and decision-making as a member of the global leadership team.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry, with at least 10 years in general management or country/regional leadership roles.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling new business operations in emerging or high-growth markets, preferably in South America. In-depth understanding of the South American pharmaceutical landscape, including regulatory frameworks, reimbursement systems, and competitive dynamics. Strong commercial acumen and ability to develop and implement effective go-to-market strategies. Exceptional leadership skills to build, motivate, and manage a diverse, high-performing team. Excellent financial and operational management capabilities to drive profitability and operational excellence. Adept at navigating complex business environments and building strategic partnerships. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Fluency in English and Spanish/Portuguese is essential.
