About the Opportunity: We seek a skilled Commercial Contract Negotiator who excels in contract law and possesses excellent negotiation skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, ensuring a solid understanding of contract law and exceptional negotiation skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting and Reviewing Contracts: Prepare, review, and finalize various commercial contracts, including supply agreements, customer agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), licensing agreements, and partnership agreements. Ensure all contracts comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Negotiation of Contracts: Negotiate the commercial terms and conditions with Sezzle's clients and partners, ensuring proper finalization for signatures. Collaborate closely with various departments to ensure contractual obligations are met and risks are minimized.
Legal Compliance: Maintain and manage the contract database, ensuring all contracts are up-to-date, properly filed, and easily accessible. Monitor key contract milestones and renewal dates. Identify and assess potential risks in contract terms and conditions, proposing appropriate mitigation strategies. Work closely with the Risk Management team to align on risk tolerance and management.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments, including Sales, Finance, Procurement, and Operations, to ensure that contract terms meet business needs and objectives. Assist in resolving any disputes that may arise from contractual agreements, working closely with external counsel if necessary. Conduct legal research on issues related to contracts, providing actionable insights to support decision-making. Provide training to internal stakeholders on contract-related matters, including best practices in contract management and negotiation techniques.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- 2-4 years of experience in commercial contract law, majority of experience in a corporate or in-house legal environment
- Certification in contract management is a plus
- Strong understanding of contract law
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Experience in the fintech or e-commerce industry is a plus

The estimated salary for this position is $90,000-$120,000 per year.
