About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Meat and Seafood Department Specialist to join our team at Hy-Vee Inc. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and ensuring the highest quality products are available to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the Meat and Seafood Department, by following proper sanitation procedures and adhering to company guidelines.
  • Restock and rotate products, including meats, seafood, and other department items, to ensure a visually appealing and well-stocked department.
  • Assist with receiving and processing merchandise, including unloading trucks, stocking shelves, and rotating products.
  • Participate in visual merchandising and display of products to create an attractive and inviting shopping environment.
  • Work effectively with colleagues to achieve department goals and objectives, including meeting sales targets and maintaining high customer satisfaction ratings.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; food safety training preferred.
  • Previous experience in a retail or food service environment, preferably in a meat or seafood department.
  • Ability to lift up to 85 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a strong focus on teamwork and collaboration.

Working Conditions:

This position is continually exposed to a cool environment and dampness, with frequent noise from saws and exposure to cleaning solvents. A fast-paced work environment with a high level of customer interaction is expected.

Equipment Used:

Knives, grinders, patty makers, tenderizers, slicers, pallet jacks, tumblers, wrapping systems, and rotisseries.

Contacts:

Deals with customers on a daily basis and vendors/suppliers as needed.
