We are seeking a highly skilled Meat Preparation Specialist to join our team at Hy-Vee.

As a Meat Preparation Specialist, you will be responsible for cutting and merchandising all fresh meat commodities, while providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cut meat products for display and sale
  • Merchandise meat products to meet customer needs and promote sales
  • Provide prompt and friendly customer service, addressing customer inquiries and resolving any issues
  • Work effectively in a team environment to achieve sales and customer satisfaction goals
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to company policies and guidelines

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Over one year of related work experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly
  • Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision
  • Ability to perform various physical activities, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions

Estimated Salary: $25,000 - $35,000 per year, based on location and experience.

Working Conditions:

This position is exposed daily to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, cleaning chemicals/solvents, and electrical shock. This is a fast-paced work environment.

Equipment Used:

Power band saw, Grinder, Tenderizer, Slicker, Bone duster (where applicable), Knives, Tumblers, Automatic patty machine (where applicable), Automatic stuffer, Wrapping system, Rotisserie, Pallet jack, Familiar with software.

Confidentiality:

This position has access to confidential information such as cutting tests, tonnage sheets, monthly reports, and projection sheets.

Contacts:

This position has daily contact with customers and the general public, and vendors/suppliers in the absence of the department manager.
