Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced publishing professional to join our team as an Acquisitions and Sales Director. This is a management-level position that requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the publishing industry, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and acquisitions in the publishing industry. You should have a proven track record of signing and publishing approximately 40-50 titles annually within projected revenue and profit guidelines.
You will also need to have a strong knowledge of professional publishing audiences, markets, sales channels, and competition. Additionally, you will require excellent interpersonal skills for successful interaction and contract negotiation with authors and publishers.
Responsibilities
- Researching and analyzing market trends to identify new opportunities within the professional book sector.
- Acquiring high-quality, relevant content that aligns with our publishing goals and market demands.
- Collaborating effectively with authors and internal teams to facilitate the entire publishing process including production, promotion, sales, and distribution.
- Recruiting and securing contracts with professional book publishers to sell their content on the Sciendo platform.
- Training and working with sales and marketing teams to maximize revenue in the institutional channel.
- Overseeing the development and execution of strategic business plans to drive growth and profitability in the professional book market.

Requirements
We are looking for someone who is a motivated self-starter with results-oriented personality, able to manage, train, and support team members. You should also be able to travel up to 10% of the time and possess excellent knowledge of MS Office, publishing software, and platforms.
Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year (dependent on location and experience).
