Bogotá, Bogotá D.E., Colombia EMAPTA A tiempo completo
Job Description

Empowering Connections, Enriching Lives

At Emapta, our mission is to enhance the quality of life for seniors by fostering meaningful social connections. We achieve this by connecting seniors via video chat or phone with carefully selected agents based in Colombia. These chat sessions are designed to allow seniors to assist their new friends in practicing English through simple conversations. By engaging in these sessions, seniors are given a teaching role that instills a renewed sense of purpose. Meanwhile, genuine relationships develop in the background, fulfilling the fundamental human need for connection.

Job Overview

We seek a compassionate and patient Elderly Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide phone-based support to elderly clients, ensuring they receive a daily dose of human connection that far too many are missing. You will be a vital point of contact, helping to enhance the well-being and quality of life for our elderly clients by offering a curious ear, friendship, and emotional support. Additionally, you will engage in meaningful conversations where there is a mutual exchange of stories, life experiences, knowledge, and advice, fostering a deeper connection and understanding between you and the clients.

Your Path to Impact

As an Elderly Support Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing compassionate and empathetic phone-based support to elderly clients, addressing their conversational, emotional, and psychological needs.
  • Actively listening to clients' life stories, interests, daily musings, and any thoughts they wish to share.
  • Engaging in two-way conversations where both you and the clients share stories, knowledge, advice, and life experiences, creating a mutually enriching relationship.
  • Maintaining clear, respectful, and effective communication with elderly clients, adapting to their pace and needs.
  • Documenting and reporting significant changes in clients' conditions or needs to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Providing feedback to management to help build the client interaction playbook and scripts by identifying key conversational issues, topics, and themes.
  • Integrating exploratory questions and topics creatively into elderly support sessions.
  • Offering innovative solutions to improve client interactions.
  • Collaborating closely with the team to ensure clients receive connection when needed.
  • Coordinating with other support staff to manage medication schedules, appointment reminders, and follow-up calls.
  • Guiding clients on the use of assistive devices or home safety measures.
  • Encouraging clients to share their own experiences and wisdom, fostering a richer, more reciprocal relationship.
  • Keeping accurate and detailed records of all interactions with clients, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Reporting concerns about clients' well-being to the healthcare team promptly.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience in customer service, healthcare, or elderly care roles is preferred.
  • Experience working with elderly individuals is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrate strong empathy, compassion, and patience when interacting with elderly clients.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information in simple terms.
  • Ability to foster meaningful, reciprocal relationships with clients, valuing their input and life experiences.
  • Exhibit problem-solving abilities and emotional resilience to handle challenging situations.
  • Have basic knowledge of medical terminology or elderly care practices (a plus).
  • Proficiency in using phone systems and computer software for documentation and communication.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Additional certification or training in elderly care, healthcare support, or related fields is advantageous.

Benefits

We offer a range of benefits to support your career growth and well-being, including:

  • A 5-day workweek, ensuring work-life balance.
  • Prepaid medicine for your peace of mind.
  • Work-items provided, including a laptop, mouse, and headset.
  • Indefinite term contract for job security.
  • 5 extra days of vacation leave, totaling 20 days that can be monetized.
  • Direct exposure to clients, offering valuable professional experience.
  • Exciting career growth opportunities.
  • A diverse and supportive work environment.
  • Prime office locations in Bogota and Medellin.
  • Access to upskilling opportunities through Emapta Academy.
