Position Summary

This is an onsite position within Bogotá, Colombia.


Thales is looking for a
Software Development Team Manager who is primarily responsible for overseeing and coordination of the software development team and its activities for the Identity and Biometric Solutions (IBS) projects of the region and beyond.

Your main responsibilities will include tasks such as resource management, operational plans management, training strategies definition, team leadership, improvement planning; inside project you will be capable of assuming the role of Software Solution Work Package Manager, in charge of the technical leadership and technical coordination of the software engineering activities with an strong focus on fulfilling the stakeholder's requirements and ensuring the successful delivery of whole projects or work packages that affect the lives of millions of people in different countries.


In this position, you will also receive the leadership role for the Identity and Biometric solutions as a decision maker for strategic plans, aligned with the Thales milestones and global objectives to achieve the maximum efficacy on IBS projects.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Manage a clear and streamlined team coordination, including reporting of the whole development team and project status for top management, take decisions about team resources, maintain diligently the Delivery Center operational plan, prepare and execute the team training strategy to fulfill the team and project needs, manage off time and vacations periods with a concrete backup strategy plan.
  • Fulfill the Thales team management and control activities on time, such as performing the yearly performance reviews, bimonthly checkins with each team member, monthly timecard reporting, among others.
  • Contribute with the Delivery Center manager on the DC strategy definition, that includes the team performance improvement plan, projects strategy, master plan and resource allocation planning.
  • Work as a team with the team managers, coordinators, Solution Managers, project managers and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects and solutions.
  • Ensure, via the Hiring process, that the development team has full capacity for project delivery.
  • Act as a Software Solution Work package manager during project execution, responsible of managing the software engineering activities, technical risks, technical execution and ensure the delivery of the solution.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the Engineering Communities to support the improvement of the Identity and Biometric Solutions (IBS) and be up to date of the Product Line developments and IBS market.
  • Develop the Delivery Center engineering community referents by providing guidance and trainings on the different product line developments to support current and future projects.
  • As a leader and technology expert, act as a referent in front of customer and other teams, to assist on the correct software solution design, compose the business requirements and their acceptance and compliance criteria to ensure that the software solution scope is delivered on time and inside budget.

Minimum Requirements

  • You must have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, electronics, System Engineering or Software Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience on software development and 2+ years of experience in team management positions or project management with proven successful delivery of

  • Knowledgeable of products, security and standards requirements.

  • A strong teamplayer with proven team management experience and a willingness to adapt to new situations.
