Overview

We are a nearshoring company that connects engineering professionals in Latin America with U.S. clients.

We are seeking an
AI Automation Engineer
to design, implement, and maintain automated workflows, data integrations, and AI-driven solutions for an engineering firm specializing in U.S. construction and infrastructure projects.

This role requires strong technical expertise in automation tools, LLM-driven workflows, systems integration, and process optimization. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and fully fluent in English.

Key Responsibilities

AI & Automation Development

  • Design, build, and maintain
    AI-driven automations
    using tools such as:
  • Python scripts
  • Zapier/Make/Integromat
  • LLM-based workflows (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)
  • Internal APIs and engineering software integrations
  • Automate repetitive tasks in operations, engineering workflows, document processing, and communication flows.
  • Develop and improve internal tools to streamline engineering and project management processes.

Systems Integration

  • Connect data between CRM platforms, engineering tools, cloud databases, internal systems, and client platforms.
  • Manage API requests, authentication, error handling, and performance tuning.
  • Implement monitoring dashboards and automated status alerts.

Process Optimization

  • Analyze current workflows and identify inefficiencies that can be automated.
  • Document automations, processes, and technical steps clearly in English.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management teams to understand needs and propose solutions.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Test and validate automations for accuracy, scalability, and reliability.
  • Ensure data security, compliance, and safe handling of proprietary information.
  • Stay updated on AI trends, new APIs, and automation frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Automation, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience
    building automations with AI or workflow tools.
  • Strong experience with at least 3 of the following:
  • Python
  • Zapier, Make, or similar
  • API integrations (REST, Webhooks)
  • LLM-based automation (OpenAI/ChatGPT, Claude, Vertex AI)
  • SQL or cloud databases
  • Experience working with engineering or construction teams is a plus.
  • Fluent English (C1/C2) – must handle meetings, documentation, and technical communication
    .
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional, multicultural teams.

Work Model & Conditions

  • Hybrid – Medellín, Colombia (residencia obligatoria)
  • Contract:

    through Sierra Talent
  • Must be available to work
    Colombian holidays
    when aligned with U.S. operations
  • Compensation according to
    Colombian labor law
  • Monday–Friday / U.S. business hours
