Desirable Characteristics:

  • Fully Bilingual English-Spanish - as most of the clients do not speak English well, but some only speak English. We are seeking full proficiency in BOTH languages, and this is an absolute requirement for the job.

Compensation:

$5 - $8 hourly

Responsibilities:

  • Create various legal papers, letters, affidavits, and pleadings such as complaints, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, pretrial orders, and legal briefs
  • Organize legal research in support of motions, hearings, and other legal matters
  • Communicate with clients to ensure proper service, answer basic process-oriented questions about their case, and gather information about their legal issues
  • Review and prepare all financial disclosures and statements
  • Analyze and maintain an organizational system for discovery and records

Qualifications:

  • Experience with standard office equipment: scanner, copier, printer
  • Paralegal experience working closely with attorneys and clients on [[types of cases]]
  • Experience with standard office management software: internet, email, word processing, case management, time & billing, legal research, document management
  • Must agree to complete a 20-question written interview that tests knowledge, skills, qualifications, habits, and behaviors (including attention to detail, communication skills, and technical legal knowledge) to be considered for this position

  • Excellent organizational skills and time-management skills

  • Significant previous experience of at least 3-5 years working as a paralegal in a US-based law firm (please do not apply if you do not have this experience).

  • Must be bilingual: because the majority of clients do not speak English well, we require you to be fluent in Spanish, both written and spoken, but your English must be excellent as well. It is okay if you have an accent, but grammar and understanding must be excellent.
  • Knowledge of standard office administration software, as well as legal software management such as Clio and/or MyCase.
  • Technology savvy - expert in Adobe Pro, and at least one legal case management system. Clio preferable.
  • Excellent internet connection and private space to work remotely.
