Director of Business Development, K-12 Education Job Title: Director of Business Development, K-12 Education Location: Remote, USA (with extensive travel) Reports to: Chief Business Officer Position Overview We are looking for a hands‑on Director of Business Development to build and execute our sales and partnership strategy within the US K‑12 education sector. This is a critical individual contributor role for a strategic thinker who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves. The ideal candidate will leverage their deep industry knowledge, existing relationships, and sales acumen to penetrate the nation’s largest school districts and forge powerful alliances with key edtech partners. You will be the architect of our K‑12 growth engine, responsible for the entire sales and partnership lifecycle, from strategy to close. Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning & Execution Develop and implement a comprehensive go‑to‑market strategy to target and secure business with the Top 30‑50 school districts across the United States. Conduct market analysis to identify key trends, opportunities, and competitive threats within the K‑12 HR and recruitment technology space. Establish and report on key performance metrics for sales pipelines, partnership funnels, and revenue targets. Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and lead generation to contract negotiation and closing. Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities with public and private K‑12 school districts. Articulate a clear and compelling value proposition to key decision‑makers, including Superintendents, Chief Human Resources Officers, and Directors of Talent Acquisition. Achieve and exceed quarterly and annual revenue goals. Partnerships & Alliances Identify, cultivate, and formalize strategic partnerships with complementary edtech companies (e.g., HRIS, LMS, Professional Development platforms) within the K‑12 ecosystem. Structure and negotiate co‑selling, re‑selling, and referral agreements that drive new business and create mutual value. Serve as the primary relationship manager for key partners, ensuring alignment and successful collaboration. Market Presence & Relationship Building Represent the company with professionalism and expertise at national and regional K‑12 conferences, trade shows, and networking events. Leverage existing relationships with school district decision‑makers to accelerate sales cycles and build trust. Act as a subject matter expert, staying ahead of industry trends and the evolving needs of K‑12 hiring. Qualifications & Experience Required 5+ years of proven success in a business development, sales, or partnerships role, with a significant focus on the US K‑12 education market. Demonstrable experience selling technology, SaaS, or hiring solutions directly to K‑12 school districts. A strong understanding of the K‑12 procurement process, funding cycles, and decision‑making structures. Proven ability to work independently as a high‑performing individual contributor in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment. Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the US (estimated 30‑50%). Authorization to work in the United States is required. Highly Desired A pre‑existing network of trusted relationships with decision‑makers (e.g., HR leaders, technology directors, superintendents) in several large US school districts. Verifiable experience in building and managing a successful channel or partnership program with other edtech companies. Deep knowledge of the edtech landscape and key players in the K‑12 ecosystem. Experience specifically with HR technology, applicant tracking systems (ATS), or recruitment marketing platforms.
