About the location:
Situated on Colombia's Caribbean coast, in the historic city of Cartagena, Four Seasons is revitalizing a collection of landmark buildings dating back to the 16th century. Experience the authentic charm of the Getsemaní neighborhood, where timeless elegance infuses the 131 accommodations, including 27 suites. Engage with the vibrant social scene in four restaurants and lounges. Host events in two ballrooms. Then relax at the Spa, Fitness Centre, and two rooftop pools. With classic style and legendary service, Four Seasons is establishing Cartagena's new cultural hub.About the role
The Assistant Director of Finance will support the Director of Finance in managing all financial aspects of the hotel's operations, ensuring compliance with local and corporate policies and procedures, and overseeing the daily functions of the Accounting office.
Responsibilities
Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Accounting & Finance Manual. Demonstrate a strong grasp of the Month-End Process, including the preparation of financial statements, accruals, and journal entries, while maintaining reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Monitor and manage hotel expenses, paying close attention to daily reports from the hotel auditor and addressing issues that impact both financial performance and guest experience. Ensure that House Funds and Floats Counts are current, minimizing any exposure that could affect profitability. Assist the Director of Finance with Forecasting and Budgeting. Plan, organize, lead, and manage various projects and activities within the finance team. Identify coaching opportunities and ensure these moments are transformed into learning and development experiences for the Finance team.Qualifications
A university degree, preferably with a major in accounting or finance.
Three to five years of experience in a similar role with Four Seasons or another organization.
A solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, Four Seasons Internal Controls, Policies and Procedures, and comprehensive knowledge of all positions in Accounting, Purchasing, and Food & Beverage control.
Proficiency in operating computer systems, with excellent Excel and computer skills.
Familiarity with Sun, iScala, and Opera Systems is highly valued.
Possess strategic thinking, analytical skills, and strong business acumen.
