About the location:
Nestled on Colombia's Caribbean coast, in the historic city of Cartagena, Four Seasons is revitalizing a collection of significant buildings dating back to the 16th century. Experience the authentic charm of the Getsemaní neighborhood, where timeless elegance permeates the 131 accommodations, including 27 suites. With enduring style and legendary service, Four Seasons is establishing Cartagena's new cultural hub.About the role
The Assistant Director of Finance will support the Director of Finance in managing all financial elements of the hotel's operations, ensuring compliance with local and corporate policies and procedures, and overseeing the daily functions of the Accounting department.
Key Responsibilities
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Accounting & Finance Manual Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Month-End Process, including the preparation of financial statements, accruals, and journal entries, while maintaining reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Monitor and manage hotel expenses, paying close attention to daily reports generated by the hotel's auditor and addressing issues that significantly impact both financial performance and guest satisfaction. Ensure that House Funds and Floats Counts are current, minimizing any potential exposure that could affect profitability. Assist the Director of Finance with Forecasting and Budgeting processes Plan, organize, lead, and oversee various projects and activities within the finance team. Identify coaching opportunities and ensure these moments are transformed into learning and development experiences for the Finance team.Qualifications
A university degree with a focus on accounting or finance is preferred.
Three to five years of experience in a similar role with Four Seasons or another organization.
A solid working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, Four Seasons Internal Controls, Policies and Procedures, and familiarity with all positions in Accounting, Purchasing, and Food & Beverage control is required.
Proficiency in operating computer systems and excellent Excel skills are essential.
Knowledge of Sun, iScala, and Opera Systems is advantageous and highly valued.
Must possess strategic thinking, analytical skills, and strong business acumen.
