Accounts Receivable Lead

As a key player in the accounts receivable department, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial transactions related to client payments. Your leadership will guide a team of specialists dedicated to ensuring the efficient processing of invoices, collections, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of accounts receivable functions within a service-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery Oversight

  • Direct the accounts receivable operations, managing the complete workflow from invoice creation to payment processing and account reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with client teams to produce precise and timely invoices in accordance with contractual agreements and project milestones. Validate billing information, including rates and quantities, and address any discrepancies with clients while maintaining thorough documentation.
  • Formulate and execute effective collection strategies to reduce outstanding receivables and enhance cash flow. Monitor client accounts, proactively engage with clients regarding overdue payments, and escalate issues when necessary. Ensure accurate application of client payments and resolve any discrepancies efficiently.
  • Act as the main contact for complex inquiries and escalated issues concerning accounts receivable.

Team Management

  • Provide guidance and oversight to the accounts receivable team, ensuring timely and precise task completion.
  • Distribute and prioritize tasks, track progress, and ensure team members achieve client-specific objectives.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to clarify goals, address backlogs, and evaluate performance against operational standards.
  • Hold monthly one-on-one sessions with team members to offer constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Mentor and train team members, fostering their professional growth and adherence to best practices.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure compliance with client-specific requirements, service-level agreements (SLAs), and industry standards.
  • Assist in developing and implementing accounts receivable policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare performance reports on accounts receivable metrics, including aging analysis and collection statistics.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify trends, evaluate collection effectiveness, and provide insights to stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about industry developments and recommend process improvements as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and digitization to streamline accounts receivable processes and improve productivity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounts receivable or a related financial role, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounts receivable principles and practices.
  • Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex payment issues.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and manage vendor relationships.
  • Understanding of financial compliance and regulatory requirements related to accounts receivable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
