About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Global Software Development Professional to join our team at ScotiaBank in Bogota, Colombia.

As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software applications using Java technologies and Microsoft SQL Server.

Your primary focus will be on developing high-quality software solutions for our clients, working collaboratively with our technical lead, software developers, business analysts, and quality assurance engineers.

To be successful in this role, you should have strong programming skills, knowledge of web development frameworks, and excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.

Additionally, you should have a comprehensive understanding of object-oriented application development techniques and theories, as well as experience with service-oriented architecture and relational databases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop software applications using Java technologies and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Work collaboratively with our technical lead, software developers, business analysts, and quality assurance engineers
  • Develop high-quality software solutions for our clients
  • Analyze and resolve technical and application defects with excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 2-3+ years of experience as a software developer
  • Extensive experience in object-oriented software design and development
  • Proficient with Java technologies, including but not limited to C#, Web Services, supporting frameworks, and UI tools
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks
  • Strong experience in Microsoft SQL Server, database design and development; experience with data migration tools is considered a strong asset
  • Understanding of cloud-hosted environments like Azure / GCP is considered a strong asset
