Financial Planning and Analysis Function

The Financial Planning and Analysis function at Mastercard manages all aspects of management reporting, encompassing budgeting and forecasting, strategic and customer planning. This includes the management and execution of the corporate reporting and planning requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supports a specific targeted area with financial and budget-related needs; conducts financial analysis for group/business unit leadership.
  2. Partners with the Engineering business to support objective delivery by providing relevant financial analytics, regular reporting, and business insights to key stakeholders, while developing robust tracking mechanisms.
  3. Applies strategic understanding of business dynamics and competitive forces in different markets to provide insights that aid the business in making financially sound decisions.
  4. Escalates analysis and findings where applicable to Finance and Business leadership where course correction is required to deliver against financial plans and objectives.
  5. Assists with strategy and process improvements to ensure alignment with Engineering objectives; proactively identifies ways to improve processes and executes agreed-upon improvements.
  6. Performs the annual target and budget process by issuing guidelines, analyzing performance, producing key management reporting, consolidating information, and tracking changes.
  7. Drives the financial planning and reporting related needs and requirements e.g. ownership of the development of Budget, Forecasts, O&Rs, and strategic plans.
  8. Owns the monthly close process delivering analysis of variances against budget, forecasts, prior year actuals, key business drivers, and initiatives. Reviews and provides thoughtful business-driven commentary to management teams.
  9. Designs and executes on financial process improvements by building and maintaining financial tools to perform analysis and modeling.
  10. Investigates and creates opportunities for automation and more efficient methods of insightful analysis creation and delivery, anticipating needs of internal customers and other stakeholders.
  11. Reviews and responds promptly to ad-hoc requests for information and analysis.

Requirements

  1. Relevant qualification in business, accounting, and/or finance preferred.
  2. Experience operating in a diverse, multi-functional accounting and/or finance group.
  3. Ability to work independently but also be a team player; proactive and able to deliver within agreed deadlines.
  4. Experience building internal and external business partnerships; develops and leverages key relationships in order to understand the needs and objectives of stakeholders.
  5. Exposure to supporting a designated business area on risk and opportunity considerations, leveraging analytical techniques as well as outside trends and events.
  6. Experienced reviewing and analyzing financial and operational modeling to support moderate-to-complex projects.
  7. Experienced with financial systems and applications; serves as a resource to those less experienced (e.g., Hyperion, Oracle).
  8. Experience identifying and implementing process improvement activities; makes recommendations to further improve procedures.
  9. Successfully resolves complex issues in a timely and efficient manner.
