About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Site Reliability Engineer to join our team at NielsenIQ. As a Junior Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our cloud-based infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our internal software engineering teams to provide support and maintain existing applications and platforms.
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation applications and participate in weekly and easy on-call rotations.
  • Work closely with principal and senior engineers to design and implement new platforms and improve existing ones.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to boost our security posture and apply shift-left principles.
  • Respond to alerts and participate in post-mortem analyses in case of incidents.
Requirements
  • Operational knowledge of Linux and experience with Docker.
  • Basic Python or Go coding skills.
  • Basic understanding of distributed systems architectures, cloud technologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of IT Security topics such as Penetration Testing, XSS, SQLi.
  • Exposure to monitoring, log aggregation, and alerting tools (Elastic/Fluentd/Prometheus).
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in any of the above topics.
  • Production experience with AWS and/or Terraform.
  • Fluency in modern architecture paradigms like microservices and serverless.
  • Experience working with Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Understanding of immutable infrastructure and self-service deployments through continuous delivery pipelines.
  • On-call experience for an internet-exposed, production environment.
