POSITION OVERVIEW

AFP is seeking a skilled English-language video producer to be based in Bogotá, responsible for delivering a diverse range of news and feature content from Latin America and North America.

This dynamic role requires expertise in producing and editing urgent news segments, whether sourced from on-the-ground video journalists or live feeds, as well as creating engaging features and lighter stories for broadcast clients. You will work under the guidance of the regional coordinator and chief editors for Latin America.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce high-quality short-format video packages with sharp writing and narration.
  • Exhibit strong shooting skills and a keen visual perspective.
  • Collaborate closely with the regional text, photo, and graphics teams to maintain a multimedia approach.
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of news coverage.
  • Manage user-generated content in accordance with AFP's guidelines.
  • Maintain an updated calendar of upcoming news events for effective planning.
  • Uphold AFP's ethics charter and editorial standards in all journalistic endeavors.
  • Monitor social media channels while adhering to agency guidelines.
  • Assist in combating misinformation through support for digital verification efforts.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Minimum of two years' experience in producing short-format hard news and feature packages for web and broadcast.
  • Proficient social media skills with experience in sourcing user-generated content.
  • Strong understanding of online video production.
  • Excellent news judgment and current events awareness.
  • Fluent in English, with proficiency in Spanish and a good command of French; Portuguese is a plus.
  • Strong writing and storytelling abilities.
  • Demonstrated shooting and editing skills, preferably with Premiere.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Experience in field production.
