Objective

Plays a vital role in the success of the GOCT business lines and IT&S; ensuring that individual objectives, plans, and initiatives are executed in alignment with the team's strategic goals. Guarantees that all activities are compliant with applicable regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promotes a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and leverage broader organizational connections, systems, and knowledge.
  • Maintains a business value-oriented approach to ensure that the Technology team delivers appropriate products for stakeholders, ensuring that user stories are well-defined and the team comprehends the scope and expectations of the work.
  • Assists the Scrum Master in managing agile delivery and adoption (JIRA, Confluence, Kanban, ServiceNow). Ensures that backlogs are visible, transparent, and prioritized to drive significant outcomes, and manages requirements for demonstration sessions with stakeholder teams.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and support teams to establish necessary service procedures, policies, and standards in compliance with internal policies and documentation guidelines.
  • Supports software development and the Support team in achieving their objectives by applying innovative and problem-solving approaches to enhance design effectiveness, procedures, and cost-efficient solutions while meeting business and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifies root causes of frequently occurring issues and supports actionable plans to enhance the development team's performance through substantial changes to our products and services.
  • Oversees business and software development metrics framework for software products, analyzing large data sets to create reports and presentations for leadership teams.
  • Utilizes various software applications to assist the bank and designated teams in formulating appropriate workflows and templates.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be integrated into daily activities and decision-making processes.
  • Actively seeks effective and efficient operations within respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of daily business controls to meet obligations regarding operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Fosters a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive workplace.

Scope

  • Supported business units: RBBO, Adjudications, GBS, OCS, Global Compliance, Global Complaints, and IB Operations.
  • 1-2 Direct Reports
  • Global (Canada & IB).

Qualifications / Experience / Additional Information

  • Essential:
    • University or College degree in Business, Engineering, or Computer Science
    • Understanding of the software development lifecycle.
    • General knowledge of project management principles.
    • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
    • An agile mindset with the adaptability to thrive in evolving environments.
    • Excellent written, verbal, virtual, and live communication skills (Spanish is considered an asset) B2
    • 2+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
    • 1+ year in a comparable role.
    • Experience with Atlassian Confluence and Jira
    • Familiarity with methodologies is highly desirable, along with knowledge of IT Business Management.

Work Environment

  • Work in a standard office-based setting; non-standard hours may frequently occur.
