Objective

Join the Resilience Analytics team within the Technology Internal Controls and Regulatory Management (ICRM) sector of Global Technology & Enterprise Platforms (GTEP) at Scotiabank. The GTEP ICRM team is integral to the Bank's Risk Governance Framework, serving as the First Line of Defense for all technology risk areas, including Cyber Security, Data Privacy, Software Currency, Disaster Recovery, Third Party Management, and Audit and Regulatory compliance.

Our mission is to maintain stable and resilient systems that ensure the reliable delivery of business applications to our clients. The Resilience Analytics team is tasked with designing metrics, collecting data, analyzing information, and providing insights to executives, execution teams, board members, and external regulators. Many projects require innovative metric design and the exploration of new data sources, necessitating creativity and strong relationship-building skills. We communicate our resilience narrative to senior stakeholders, making proficiency in English essential, along with the ability to analyze data and extract meaningful insights. Collaboration with process owners, technology leaders, application managers, and various risk, audit, and regulatory bodies worldwide is key.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and leverage broader Bank systems and knowledge.
  • Identify patterns within complex data to recommend areas for further investigation aimed at risk mitigation and technology stability improvement.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in business process transformation, focusing on data collection and consolidation across multiple business lines to assess Technology Service Performance and identify key risks to system stability and resilience.
  • Innovate to enhance and automate processes within Resilience Analytics, focusing on data quality dimensions such as timeliness, completeness, and consistency.
  • Provide technical design guidance to the engineering team in developing data solutions, including ETL processes and dashboard presentations.
  • Promote and implement processes that enhance data quality, collaborating with stakeholders to identify and address gaps.
  • Engage with stakeholders and data contributors across various business units and regional reporting processes, offering ongoing support and guidance.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in delivering quality reporting on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis for various risk departments and business lines.
  • Exhibit strong writing skills, adept at framing documents for diverse audiences.

Scope of Role

Reporting to the Director of Resilience Data Analytics, the Data Analytics Solution Expert (DASE) will play a pivotal role in the success of Technology Internal Controls and Regulatory Management for GTEP by ensuring that goals, plans, and initiatives align with the team's business strategies and objectives. The DASE will conduct all activities in accordance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

This role will promote a data-driven approach to technology resilience across the organization. You will lead and contribute significantly to key initiatives that involve metric design, data point identification, collaboration with engineering teams on solutions, and dashboard creation. Daily tasks will include reviewing existing dashboards and data to identify potential risk areas for evaluation and investment. Additionally, you will prepare presentations and reports for risk committees and regulatory bodies.

You will advocate for a data-driven methodology through the development and dissemination of effective dashboards that measure Technology Service performance. Your role will also encompass organizational change management, including communication strategies and the development and implementation of training programs. A critical deliverable will be comprehensive reporting on Technology Service performance for boards and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications / Experience / Additional Information

  • 5+ years of experience as a technical analyst or business analyst in a data analytics environment, providing insights into data.
  • 5+ years of progressive hands-on experience in Business/System Analysis, with a focus on process design and organizational change management in a large technology environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in IT Service Management (ITSM), covering Service Requests, Incidents, Problems, Changes, Releases, and Configuration Management Databases (CMDB).
  • Strong understanding of technical data solutions (interfaces, data connections, ETL, data visualization tools such as Power BI) and familiarity with Python.
  • 3+ years of experience in writing for and presenting to executive-level audiences (VP+) with the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative information effectively. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Proven interpersonal and negotiation skills to build consensus and foster cooperation among support teams and senior management.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing, leading, and mentoring teams.
  • Post-secondary education; ITIL Foundations certification (versions 3 and/or 4); knowledge in business analysis and technical development related to data analytics.
  • Project Management or Risk Management experience or certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience in organizational change management is beneficial.
  • Facilitation and workshop creation experience is a plus.
