The Development Communications Writer writes and edits a variety of communications materials for fundraising efforts in Latin America.

**WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU**:
The Development Communications Writer is responsible for writing and editing proposals and other documentation, such as fact sheets, annual reports and stewardship reports to engage existing and potential Corporate and Major Donors and to strengthen their connection with The Nature Conservancy in Latin America, with a strong focus on Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, in this case. Specific projects will initially include Corporate and Major Donor proposals but will later extend to include Fee for Service and Cause Related Marketing proposals. They will serve as an expert information resource to the organization’s many departments and plays a lead role in crafting communications solutions that meet specific project objectives, while simultaneously strengthening The Nature Conservancy brand. They participate in devising strategies in collaboration with internal departments such as Finance and Conservation to meet specific philanthropy targets.

Uses TNC’s code of conduct and competencies as a baseline to conduct their actions and be an example for others.

**Responsibilities & Scope**:

- Provides consistency to conservation proposals, under the guidance of the Conservation staff and Development team, and through ensuring the logic of the conceptual framework in a clear readable manner.
- Coordinates the work within the Development Team (Public, Private and Major Donors) and Conservation teams to strategic align proposals for donor according TNC’s strategic framework.
- Guarantees compliance with specific donor’s guidelines for the construction of proposals (technical and financial).
- Provides technical support to follow TNC internal procedures related to the fundraising process
- Manages and implements projects.
- Projects are development communication products, such as proposals, reports, fact sheets, and others, that are created according to instructions and deadlines on a project brief filled out by the staff member requesting the job. The project has to be managed from start to finish, usually with a kick off meeting and ending with delivery deadline agreed with requester, according to priorities and needs established by the Development team
- Responsibility and accountability for meeting assigned project goals and objectives.
- May serve as team lead on assigned communication and/or media initiatives.
- Does not supervise staff but will coordinate the work of peers.
- This means they sometimes will work as part of a team when producing communication products that require different steps in the production chain, such as editing, proofing, etc
- Resolves issues independently within program area.
- The writer will take part in kick off meetings and other team meetings with staff from their program area, such as conservation. They sometimes have to resolve issues such as prioritizing deadlines, getting inputs from staff, talking with fundraising staff about messaging, doing research about topics being written about, amongst other actions.
- Works independently without requiring detailed management review of general work.
- Work carried out by the writer will not require constant nor detailed review from management, but the writer will work with peers to edit each other’s work and ensure quality. Writer will join weekly calls with peers and supervisor to discuss progress, needs etc.

**WHAT YOU'LL BRING**:

- Bachelor’s degree Communications, Business, Marketing, Administration, or in a related field and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination.
- Experience writing or editing one or more of the following: newsletter, magazine, annual report, web-site articles/stories, donor profiles, presidential acknowledgment letters, campaign brochures, funding proposals, fact sheets, presentations, or equivalent.
- Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
