Instiglio's mission is to unlock the full impact potential of governments to deliver meaningful outcomes for their citizens. We support our partners to integrate Results-Based Financing (RBF) in delivery systems and practices, design data-driven performance management systems and strengthen long-term service delivery capabilities of government partners.


Over the last 10 years, Instiglio has influenced practices, capabilities, and policy frameworks of governments and aid institutions, creating ripple effects and shaping how hundreds of millions of dollars are deployed.

We have delivered over 100 projects with governments, multilateral organizations, foundations and service providers in 30 low
- and middle-income countries to improve outcomes. This work has covered sectors including education, livelihoods, workforce development, health, gender, and climate. Core contributing factors to the influence Instiglio has had thus far include our commitment to delivering cutting-edge innovative work, our unrivaled focus on impact, and our collaborative, highly skilled and diverse team.


Some of our important milestones include the world's first Development Impact Bond (education, India); the launch of performance-based contracts with governments in Africa (employability, Morocco), the structuring of a $60 million results-based transfer system for local school districts (education, Peru), and facilitating MCC's effective use of RBF through a four-year strategic partnership.

Instiglio has also advised pioneer RBF transactions, such as the first Outcomes Fund (poverty graduation, Kenya and Uganda) and an RBF that has transformed the delivery performance of Freetown's water utility (utility management, Sierra Leone).

We are a team of 60+ people, representing 15+ nationalities, with offices in Colombia, Kenya, Morocco and the USA.

Our team of practitioners has extensive development and government experience, including previous roles in impact evaluation (e.g., J-PAL), development banks (e.g., World Bank), country governments (e.g., Rwanda Ministry of Finance, Colombia's National Planning Department, Congress of Colombia), and research (e.g., Harvard's Center for International Development).

Crucial to our strategy is increasing the awareness of our impact, while cultivating strategic partnerships with governments, multilateral aid agencies and donors.

To support us in achieving our goals, we are looking for a passionate, ambitious, and creative external communications expert with strong skills in crafting social impact narratives and engaging with funders.

In this role, you will work in close collaboration with our Senior Leadership and our client-facing teams to drive growth through developing our brand, leading fundraising efforts, and enhancing our external positioning.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff and working in close collaboration with the Communications, Business Development and Project Implementation teams across Instiglio's country offices, the Communications and Fundraising Senior Associate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

External Communications:

  • Develop and execute the communications strategy across all channels, including digital, print, broadcast and live events, supporting Instiglio's Senior Leadership to position itself strategically to external audiences.
  • Ensure Instiglio's brand architecture is resonant across a diverse set of audience segments, inspires them to action, differentiates us from our peers, and advances our strategic goals.
  • Oversee the creation and use of brand guidelines and marketing collateral with the goal of empowering Instiglio's global team to become effective brand ambassadors united through a consistent, relevant, and impactful voice.
  • Design, write, edit and pitch content for different external audiences documentingInstiglio's impact journey, strategy, critical insights and knowledge products (press releases, project descriptions, talking points, external articles, policy briefs, annual reports, etc.)
  • Draft and disseminateInstiglio's newsletters highlighting key projects, publications, conferences and other organizational updates.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to increase the reach and engagement of communication channels and products.
  • Provide support to the People Operations team by creating visual and written content for recruitment efforts, in line with our employee brand proposition and organizational culture.
  • Maintain and foster new relationships with strategic media partners, including journalists, editors, and contributors from outlets consumed by government officials and international development practitioners in relevant markets

Fundraising:

  • Engage and grow our funder base by identifying and researching strategic partnership opportunities and maintaining a robust opportunity
