This requires converting broad knowledge of (re)insurance, corporate finance, regulatory frameworks, rating agency views, and capital markets into commercially viable business opportunities.


About the Team:

The Business Development team identifies, originates, and develops reinsurance solutions for clients' strategic objectives across the world.

The team is collaborative and made up of creative, inquisitive, and engaging people who seek opportunity, explore possibilities, and bring them to commercial realization.


About the Role:

Work side by side, with client managers and their teams, as a Business Development partner, to develop and originate reinsurance business opportunities:

  • Develop and promote the value proposition of reinsurance solutions as a proactive element within clients' strategic and capital management toolkit
  • Join pitch/marketing efforts as part of a client coverage team
  • Contribute to client engagement and relationship development with a focus on value creation opportunities
  • Perform financial valuation and flexibility analysis and assess client financial and strategic strength

Build and maintain Business Development's toolkit including:

  • Identifying key trends/issues and their potential impact on clients, including assessing the value impact of reinsurance solutions
  • Interfacing regularly with underwriting colleagues in L&H and P&C to develop new solutions and optimize existing ones to meet emerging and changing client needs
  • Modeling and illustrating the solutions costs and benefits under different capital regimes (eg., Solvency 2, IFRS 17, S&P, economic)
  • Help junior team members develope

About you:

  • Good knowledge of Latin American P&C and L&H industry including primary insurance markets, trends, and products
  • Knowledge about corporate finance, accounting, solvency and ratings capital models, and company valuation drivers
  • Strong communicator, particularly with the skills for sales
  • Outofthebox thinker; comfortable working across varied, clients, solution types, and abilities
  • Ability to support execution as a team member, and at times, project leader (player/coach)
  • Able to conduct business in English, and Spanish or Portuguese.
