The Center’s Strategic Plan sets a high mark for impact: By 2030, half of the world’s population will be living under stronger protections for reproductive rights than they are today. The Center has a track record of success to back up this ambitious goal. Since our founding in 1992, the Center has transformed how courts, governments, and human rights bodies worldwide understand and apply reproductive rights worldwide on maternal health, abortion, assisted reproduction, and adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). We have won groundbreaking cases before national courts, U.N. Committees, and regional human rights bodies. Additionally, the Center has led the development of historic, proactive legislation advancing robust protections for reproductive rights. It has built the legal capacity of women’s rights advocates in more than 65 countries and counting.
The Role:The Center’s Bogota Office is looking for an enthusiastic, resourceful and highly organized intern committed to reproductive rights issues to engage in various mini projects related to the Colombia office. This internship will provide someone with experience in many aspects of as well as insight into the inner working of organizational management.
The internship is full-time, beginning July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024.
Responsibilities: As an intern with Bogota Office, your primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist members of our legal team with writing reproductive rights-related submissions to United Nations and regional human rights bodies. Support the drafting of amicus curiae and other legal briefs. Support research and legal mapping activities. Bluebooking and fact-checking as needed for current reports and publications. Support administrative duties.Qualifications:
Current law studentStrong legal research and writing skillsDemonstrated an interest in gender/women's issues and reproductive rightsTaken Constitutional Law and International Law classesKnowledge of human rights as well as a basic understanding of Human Rights SystemsFluency in Spanish and English.Don’t meet every single requirement?
