Senior Data Security Engineer

About the role

The Data Security Senior Engineer will serve as a key architect and engineering contributor to the Client's Data Security program, with a primary focus on Microsoft Purview and enterprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and operationalizing data protection controls across endpoints, email, cloud platforms, and analytics environments. The engineer will work in close partnership with security operations and architecture teams to ensure scalable, reliable, and compliant data security capabilities within an 8x5 operational model.

What you will do:

• Data Security Engineering & Architecture
• Design, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Purview DLP policies across endpoints, email, cloud services, and collaboration platforms.
• Engineer and support Microsoft Information Protection (MIP), DSPM, DSPM for AI, Insider Risk Management, Zscaler Network DLP, and security controls for Databricks.
• Develop and refine data classification structures, including Sensitive Information Types (SITs), sensitivity labels, and governance models.

• Continuously tune DLP policies to reduce false positives and enhance detection accuracy in a mature, large-scale environment.
• Operationalize security controls in collaboration with Security Operations, Architecture, Cloud Platform, and Data Engineering teams.
• Integrate telemetry from Purview and related tools into Microsoft Sentinel to support correlation, alerting, and SIEM-driven security workflows.

• Ensure alignment of data protection capabilities with regulatory requirements such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR, and other applicable standards.
• Support incident response for data exfiltration events, insider threats, and DLP policy violations—providing technical investigation and remediation guidance.
• Contribute to ongoing enhancements in the client's enterprise data governance and data protection frameworks.

What you bring:

• 5–8+ years in data security engineering, DLP engineering, or cloud security architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, DLP, and Microsoft Information Protection.
• Strong understanding of enterprise data flows, governance models, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Experience integrating security signals into SIEM platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel.
• Familiarity with incident response processes for insider risk, data leakage, and exfiltration scenarios.
• Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (PCI, HIPAA, GDPR, SOX).
• Experience working in enterprise security programs or global environments.
