Datavail is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated, and passionate PostgreSQL DBA to join our PostgreSQL Global Practice. As a PostgreSQL DBA, you will be working on the latest Opensource technologies in the industry. This position is based out of Colombia.

**Required Skills**:

- 9+ years of relevant experience.
- PostgreSQL v10+ experience required.
- Must have strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Must have experience in PostgreSQL database architecture, logical and physical design, automation, documentation, installs, shell scripting, PL/ SQL programming, catalog navigation, query tuning, system tuning, resource contention analysis, backup, and recovery, standby, replication, etc.
- Must have strong knowledge on AWS Cloud and Azure Cloud.
- PostgreSQL deployment and implementation support (24*7*365)
- Good Knowledge on pgbadger and pg-collector report analysis
- Hands on experience on HA Configuration
- Must have strong knowledge of Linux/Unix & Windows.
- Strong understanding of command line and server administration.
- Knowledge of shell scripting (e.g., Bash, Python).
- AWS Solutions Architect - Associate level certified (Must).
- AWS Solutions Architect - Professional level certified (preferred).
- AWS DB Specialty certified (preferred).

Desired Skills:

- Strong knowledge of DevOps technologies
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify issues before they become problems
- 2-3+ years of deep experience building cloud data solutions
- Possess working knowledge of agile development methodologies including DevOps concepts
- Experience with cloud SDKs and programmatic access services
- Proficient in a relevant programming language for cloud platforms (e.g., Python, Shell,, etc)

Role and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the monitoring and uptime of all production databases.
- Estimate PostgreSQL database capacities; develop methods for monitoring database capacity and usage.
- Lead efforts to develop and improve procedures for automated monitoring and proactive intervention, reducing any need downtime.
- Administration on AWS Cloud (EC2, RDS & Aurora), S3 Backups, Replication.
- Administration on Azure Cloud (Single server & Flexible server).
- Participate in the creation of development, staging, and production database instances, and the migration from one environment to another.
- Responsible for developer SQL code review to ensure queries are optimized and tuned to perform efficiently prior to production release.
- Responsible for regular backups and recovery of databases.
- Responsible for regular maintenance on databases (e.g., Vacuum, Re-indexing, Archiving).
- Responsible for pro-active remediation of database operational problems.
- Responsible for Query tuning and preventative maintenance.
- Participate in a 24×7 support rotation.
- Responsible for the monitoring and uptime of all production databases.
- Experience in automation development, shell, python or Golang
