We are currently seeking an **Accounting Manager** to join our Finance team in Bogota, Colombia to support our local operations. This position will report to the Statutory Manager in Toronto, Canada and will be responsible for accounting activities as well as identifying cost saving and control enhancement opportunities for our Colombia operations. The position will work directly with CFO and finance staff throughout the region.
Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Maintain, analyze, and summarize general ledger accounts
- Responsible for month-end accounting close process
- Review monthly reconciliations of all GL accounting
- Compile annual financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, equity statement and cash flow statement
- Responsible for responding to audit queries from external auditors or DIAN
- Identify correct tax treatment for all local invoices and expense reports
- Responsible for reviewing tax GLs for accuracy for month end close process
- Responsible for ensuring external payroll calculations are accurate and reconciling to local accounts
- Adhere to proper accounting methods, policies and principles
- Continuously identify areas of efficiency and proactively provide recommendations for process improvement and modifications to accounting system and procedures
Qualified professionals will have:
- A minimum of 5 years of Colombian accounting experience, including 2+ years at accounting manager level
- Bachelor´s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- Fluency in English (English level B2 Plus). Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of local Colombian accounting standards and tax compliance requirements
- Experience with JD Edwards considered a plus
- Experience managing and monitoring internal control procedures and practices
- Ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to identify process improvements and promote changes
